About Department
About Department
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Department of Mathematics started functioning in 2010 though students took admission in 3 years Pass Course in 2011 for the first time. The Department started offering B.Sc Honourse Course in Mathematics from the year 2020. The Department offers degree in Major, Minor and Interdisciplinary Courses in Mathematics.
Vision and Mission
Vision and Mission

The Department of Mathematics will offer courses of study that will ensure that the student will be able to contribute to our society. The students will obtain abilities to critically assess numerical and graphical information; learn to formulate strategies for solving problems. Mathematics develops computational skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The theory, discipline and techniques taught in mathematics courses are especially important in today's society. The faculty of the Department of Mathematics recognizes this and strives to ensure that the student learner obtains this knowledge.

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOME (PSO):

On successful completion of the B.Sc (Mathematics) programme student will be able to recall basic facts about Mathematics and should be able to display knowledge of conventions such as notations , terminology. A student should get adequate exposure to global and local concerns that explore them many aspects of Mathematical Sciences. Moreover, they will apply the fundamental principal, concepts and methods in key areas of science and multidisciplinary fields and demonstrate problem solving, analytical and logical skills to provide solutions.

CAREER OPTION

Mathematics students after the successful completion of courses can choose a career in computer science as a software developer, programmer, web designer, telecommunication, and other IT industries like Google, Microsoft, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, and many more multinational private companies.

B.Sc Mathematics graduates can choose actuarial science as a career option where the students use mathematical concepts to analyze critical problems and risk management.

After completion of M.Sc in Mathematics they can prepare for CSIR/UGC-JRF/NET, GATE, and other academic and research exams to become an instructor viz., school teacher or Professor and a researcher or scientist at IITs, IISc, IISER, TIFR, BARC, BHU, DU, JNU, and several other prestigious universities and institution. Moreover, they can join several other teaching-learning platforms like Unacademy, and Byju’s as well as they can start their own education and research entrepreneurship.

Math graduate students can share their knowledge and collaborate with experts in other scientific domains where the students can solve complex biological, physical, chemical; or engineering sciences-related problems using their mathematical concepts and aptitudes.

With a mathematical background, the students can choose a career in Statistical and Data Analysis in various sectors such as healthcare, accounting, finance, banking, insurance, etc. Here the students can utilize their expertise to explore the intricate dataset and prepare a mathematical model which is crucial for the growth of every organization.

The student can choose space science as a career, where the students are engaged to find solutions to complex problems using different branches of mathematics such as algebra, geometry, probability, and statistics.
