About Department
The Department of Bengali started functioning in 1987 with pass course and honours course was started in 2004. The department offers degree in Pass and Honours Courses.
Vision and Mission
The main aim of the department is enrichment of personality of the students. Literature specially build the morality of the students. Our prime vision is to make a good citizen and well educated person for our society. Along with this vision our mission is to prepare our students for this competitive era.

UG (B.A HONOURS & PASS)
- B.A (General).Duration: Three Years(1+1+1). From 2014-2015 Credit Based Six-Semester Degree Programme Started
- B.A (Honours). Duration: Three Years(1+1+1). From 2014-2015 Credit Based Six-Semester Degree Programme Started

Eligibility Criteria for Entry Level
- For admission in Bengali Honours, the candidate should have passed H.S.
- A general candidate is eligible to apply in Bengali Hon's course if he/she has secured in H.S or equivalent exam. 40% or above in average along with at least 45% marks in Bengali or 35 % in average and 50 % in Bengali.
- Candidate should have at least 50 % marks in H.S if he/she didn't have Bengali as elective subject in H.S.
- Selection would be on merit basis subject to the fulfilment of the state government reservation policy.
- Any one can switch from general degree course to honours course as per Tripura University norms.
