The Department of Botany, GDC Kamalpur, was established in 2020. Since then, the Department has successfully conducted Undergraduate courses for three successive years in B.Sc. Bioscience (General) without Honours. The Department of Botany is committed to providing high-quality teaching, essential educational and infrastructural facilities to students, and guidance and career development opportunities for faculty members.

MISSION
"The goal of the B.Sc. Botany Programme is to provide high-quality education in the field of plant sciences and to raise awareness among students about the importance of conserving natural resources. The study of Botany is crucial as plants are essential for life on Earth. The curriculum has been designed to meet instructional goals and adapt to the evolving trends in education. It aims to create an environment that adopts intellectual, professional, and personal development of the students. The curriculum focuses on the overall development of the students, preparing them to thrive in a rapidly changing world. This three and four-year bachelor's degree program in Botany lays the foundation for students who want to pursue further education in botany or start an entry-level career."

  1. Three years Undergraduate (B.Sc. BIOSCIENCE; General). Credit-based six-semester Degree program; Started from 2020.
  2. Four-year degree course under NEP-2020 with   Major, Minor, Interdisciplinary, Skill enhancement, and Vocational courses. Credit-based eight-semester Degree Programme under NEP-2020 from 2023, started from 2023.

Eligibility Criteria for Entry Level

  • For admission in Botany under NEP-2020, the candidate should have passed HS (+2 Stage) under the Science stream with at least 50% marks.

  • Selection would be on merit basis subject to the State Government Reservation Policy.
