The Department of Philosophy was opened in the year 1987 with the Pass Course and the Honours Course was introduced in the year 2011. The Department encourages students in extracurricular activities and involves students in departmental seminars and workshops. The teachers always take a lead role in reaching out students by addressing their personal problems through mentor and mentee relationship. In order to bring holistic development, the parents are invited at a regular interval through parent teacher meetings. The department is fully engaged in delivering its best for the welfare of the students.

The vision of the department is to become one of the premier departments in the country that assists students in inculcating Contemporary Knowledge along with Traditional Moral Values by constantly updating the students with the modernity.

  1. Major: Indian and Western Philosophy, Logic (Indian and Western), Ethics (Indian and Western), Environmental Ethics.

  2. Minor: Indian and Western Philosophy, Ethics (Indian and Western) and Environmental Ethics.

  3. Inter-Disciplinary: Indian and Western Philosophy.

  4. Value added Course (VAC): Indian Knowledge System.

TDP/TDPH

  1. For admission in Education Honours, the candidate should have passed H.S.

  2. A general candidate is eligible to apply in Education Hon's course if he/she has secured in H.S or equivalent exam. 40% or above in average along with at least 45% marks in Education or 35 % in average and 50 % in Education.

  3. Candidate should have at least 50 %marks in H.S if he/she didn't have Education as elective subject in H.S.

  4. Selection would be on merit basis subject to the fulfilment of the state government reservation policy.

 

UG under NEP-2020

  • A student who has passed Higher Secondary/H.S. (+2 stage)/Senior Secondary examination or equivalent from any recognized board/Council shall be eligible for admission to the 1st Semester Under Graduate (B.A.) programme subject to availability of seats. The students shall be taken into consideration for admission if she/ he applied within 5 years from the year of passing of qualifying examination. 

  • The merit list will be prepared on the basis of sum of marks of Best Five subjects of H.S.(+2) Examination and the subject opted for Major.

  • If there is a tie in the sum, preference will be given on the marks obtained in the subject opted as Major (for breaking the tie).

  • If marks of the subject opted as Major is also equal, then the date of birth of the candidate will be considered. The senior student will be given the chance to take admission.

  • The merit list will be published for Major subject only.

  • Minor and Inter-disciplinary subjects will be distributed among the students subject to the availability of seats.

  • Reservation policy as per the rules of Government of Tripura will be followed.
